Pilgrims Rest

Royal Hotel Pilgrims Rest

In 1873 Pilgrim`s Rest was born during the excitement of an alluvial gold rush and soon grew into a flourishing little village complete with sturdy brick houses, church, shops, canteens, a newspaper and the well-known Royal Hotel.
The entire town of Pilgrim’s Rest was declared a National Monument in 1986 as a living memory of the early gold rush days in South Africa and the town’s original architecture remains largely unchanged since then. Several arts and craft shops as well as the museums are worth a visit.
Pilgrim’s Rest is situated on the magnificent Panorama Route, only app. 50 km from Dreamfields Guesthouse.
